Recreation and Cultural Heritage
The River Wandle is enjoyed by walkers. bird watchers ad recreational activities such as angling; with Wilderness Island owned by Sutton Borough Council and managed by the London Wildlife \trust, providing an urban wildlife haven for all to enjoy.
A Public Right of Way (PRoW) (No 62) (and the Wandle Trial) traverses along the left bank of the Charlton branch along River Gardens past Watermill House and towards Nightingale Road, while several footpaths traverse through Wilderness Island. There are no Listed Buildings or Schedule Monuments in close proximity to Shepley Mill.
